Read about the Do's and Don'ts of taking care of Microfibre cloths.

Items made of microfibre materials need some special care to make sure it stays effective every time you use it. Learning how to properly wash microfibre cloths can help you in the long run, increasing the life span and effectiveness of your cloths so it won’t affect your cleaning regime.

These are the key things you need to remember when taking care of your Microfibre cloths:

▬ NO Fabric Softener

▬ NO Bleach

▬ NO Heat

▬ NO other kinds of Fibre

  • Do not use fabric softener. Fabric softeners, if used on microfibres, can clog up the spaces in between the fibres making it less effective in cleaning.
  • Do not use bleach. Your cloth will actually be ruined if you use bleach. So don’t!
  • No heat. Heat can actually melt or burn the fibres off your cloth.
  • No other kinds of fibres. Wash and dry microfibres separately. Microfibre can attract the lint from other types of garments and fibres, clogging up the spaces in between the fibres, making your it ineffective. Cotton can have a lint that can clog the spaces in between each fibre.

HOW TO WASH YOUR MICROFIBRE CLOTHS:

  1. Separate your microfibre cloths from other types of garments. Go above and beyond and separate your microfibre cloths into the type of cleaning you have done (wash separately those you used for bathrooms, kitchen, etc). This is to avoid cross contamination.
  2. Use a liquid detergent that is perfume free and dye free. Do not use powdered ones. Put your washer’s temperature into warm water setting. Do not use high heat setting!
  3. Microfibre is best air dried or line dried in a place where it won’t be contaminated with dust and lint. If a dryer machine is required, use only the lowest setting of heat and separate it with other garments.
